Night Sky

Night sky photography presents so many technical challenges, which I relish solving - it must be my engineering nature. You're always fighting with the conditions; moon phase, weather, seasons and light pollution. Therefore, it's always so satisfying to finally get the shot when there are a very limited number of oppotunities each year. There are so many skills to learn and interesting phenomena, there are always new things to try.

The first time I saw Saturn's rings through a telescope was a significant moment for me. From that moment, I became intensely fascinated by space.

Nature

I love being outdoors - you never know what you're going to see each time you take the camera out. You have to be able to think quickly on your feet, and always be ready because if you miss something, you don't often get a second chance.

I shoot primarily using a Sigma 150 - 600mm lens as it offers superior quality when you want to keep your distance from the subject.
